It seems like this is the year where minimalist lyrics make a comeback. We had Caribou’s ‘Our Love’ earlier this year, and while Ryan Lott does say a few more words than that, he lets the music and the tastefully bleak video do more of the talking here. We’ve already heard Lorde’s interpretation of this tune, but nothing tops the writer’s own work, blending electronic feelers with the raw touch of analogue hooks to bring it down to earth again.
